Saint Petersburg has the entire range of hotels — from modest 2-star to luxury 5-star. There are also hostels, mini-hotels and apartments. Recently, hostels and mini-hotels have become increasingly popular due to competitive prices and good location in the central districts of the city
The central part of Saint Petersburg is quite large. I would recommend looking for a hotel in one of those districts:
- Tsentralny District
- Admiralteysky District
- Petrogradsky District
- Vasileostrovsky District.
Though the public transportation in the city is good, if you book a hotel in one of these districts, most attractions will be accessible even if you walk on foot. Besides, the architecture of the districts: palaces, mansions, avenues, parks, churches — is worth being seen and admired.
I Divided Saint Petersburg Hotels In 3 Groups:
- Saint Petersburg hostels. The prices for this type of stay are much more affordable than in hotels. In addition, it’s a great opportunity to meet other travellers and to find travel friends.
- Hotels in Saint Petersburg with the best location. In fact, I have chosen mini-hotels and apartments located close to the main must-see places of Saint Petersburg. As to me, this is the best choice for reasonable travellers. Generally, it is the most comfortable accommodation option — they often offer a larger area than usual hotels, its own kitchen and bathroom. At times, better insulation and the ability to accommodate a family or group of friends. The price is often lower than in hotels.
- Luxury hotels in Saint Petersburg. Expensive, but definitely the best of the best. Not only because of great service or location. Each of those hotels has its own fascinating history and stunning interiors. While living in one of them, you will certainly feel like you are a member of the royal family. So why not to book it at least for one night — just to try it?
Saint Petersburg Hostels
Good location in a calm area (Vasileostrovsky district). Amber hostel offers a cosy homely atmosphere for those who love silence and order. Rooms are always very clean. Spacious comfortable kitchen has all the necessary utensils. Stuff is always ready to help if there are any problems or questions regarding accommodation.
Quiet and peaceful hostel right in the middle of Nevsky prospect, the main Saint Petersburg avenue. Rooms have an unusual design dedicated to writers and poets. Indeed, it’s an interesting mix of history and modernity.
A great place to stay for a couple of days, as well as for a longer period. Cosy clean rooms. There is everything you need to stay. The manager will always provide the greatest possible assistance.
Kino Hostel on Moskovskiy
Nice location not far from the airport. 5 minutes walk to the Moskovskaya metro station. Very quiet courtyard, wide beds, spacious rooms and a corridor. Very strong wifi signal. There are coolers with hot and cold water.
The hostel is situated in the very heart of Saint Petersburg — almost all sights are within walking distance from it. The hostel has a sitting area for relaxing after a busy day. Staff is very kind and friendly.

The hotel has a great location: within walking distance of the metro, public transport stops, 5 minutes walk from the embankments and the Summer Garden. There are a lot of cafes, snack bars, 24-hour shops nearby. The rooms are equipped with all necessary stuff: bed linen, towels, cosmetic sets, dishes, Wi-Fi, etc.

Homely Apartments Rubika
Excellent location in the main “restaurant” street of the city — Rubinstein Street. At the same time, the apartments are very close to main Saint Petersburg attractions. The rooms are very cosy and clean, equipped with a small kitchen. There are a bathrobe and slippers in the bathroom.
Mogol Apartments 2
The hotel is situated in the best-rated area in Saint Petersburg — only 800 m from Saint Isaac’s Cathedral and 800 m from Mariinsky Theatre. A very good choice for a family stay. The apartments meet all the expectations — stylish interior, cleanliness, availability of towels and bathrobes, household appliances (refrigerator, kettle, toaster, stove, microwave, washing machine).
Luxury Hotels in Saint Petersburg
Hotel Astoria is one of the best examples of what a luxury hotel is all about. The hotel has an excellent location by the beautiful St. Isaac’s Cathedral, and within 10 minutes walk of Nevsky Prospekt, Palace Square and the Hermitage. Furthermore, except for bar and restaurant, Astoria offers access to SPA and fitness centre, babysitting services, hammam, sauna and many other facilities which make the stay comfy.
The State Hermitage Museum Official Hotel
Exclusive 5-star hotel located in the 1830s mansion in the centre of Saint Petersburg. The hotel is not only named after the famous Hermitage Museum but also has its vibes and elegant atmosphere. Here everything seems perfect: design, quietness, location, service, tasty breakfasts, rooftop bar!
Grand Hotel Europe
Simply gorgeous! Love from the first sight. The most beautiful hotel of all the luxury hotels in Saint Petersburg, as for me. I won’t even say a word — just look at the pictures and you will understand everything yourself.
High tourist season in Saint Petersburg lasts from May to September. This means that you better book hotels in advance if you want to visit the city during these months. Thus you will be able to choose hotels with the best location, prices and services.
If you’ve been to Saint Petersburg, feel free to tell where you’ve stayed and if it was a good choice. I am always glad to know other travellers experience!
